Dr. Adele Goldberg is a computer scientist who helped develop the programming language Smalltalk-80 and concepts related to object-oriented programming while working as a researcher at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). Adele earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan, her master’s degree in information science from the University of Chicago, and her Ph.D. in information science form the University of Chicago. Adele was one of few who predicted the use of notebook computers in day-to-day life and communication, in the influential article “Personal Dynamic Media,” which she wrote with Alan Kay.
