Vandana Shiva is an Indian physicist and environmental activist. Vandana founded the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Natural Resource Policy in 1982 to develop sustainable methods of agriculture. One of its initiatives was Navdanya, which promoted organic farming and fair trade by educating farmers of the benefits of maintaining diverse and individualized crops. As an author, Vandana not only spread awareness about environmentalism but also about being a woman. Seh was a founding board member of the Women’s Environmental and Development Organization. Vandana is an icon in ecofeminism.
