Francoise Barré-Sinoussi is a French virologist and winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 2008 for her discovery of HIV. Francoise’s studies discovered that the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was the cause of AIDS in 1983 with her former mentor Luc Montagnier. Francoise is also known for her advocacy for people with HIV.
